Has ERP entered the Cloud ?
This is the question everyone in ERP seems to be asking. Is ERP finally in the Cloud? Meaning, can we use ERP as a Service. It looks like companies are finally seeing the possibility of ERP in the Cloud as a profitable business, considering the media coverage events such as purchase of ERP business. One such event is buying of ERP vendor Compiere by Consona. More about the details of the deal is here Consona buys ERP vendor Compiere.
Recently, SAP announced entry into this business. Earlier Ramco had aggresively marketed such products. Dynamics reports active marketing of its SAAS product to customers.

At the same time, attrition was also reported as growing.
IT staffing – Is it Lawful ?
As reported on this blog, Obama’s election as President last year has seen restrictions placed on IT staffing companies. Getting a H1B Visa has become more difficult.
100′s of IT staffing companies, consisting of strong reputed staffing companies and desi consultants have run into trouble with introduction strict laws by Govt. of USA.
Where will these companies go to seek remedy?
TechServe Allaince — http://www.techservealliance.org/
TechServe Alliance, filed a lawsuit today in U.S. District Court U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Alejandro Mayorkas, Director of USCIS, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security.
The tight regulations on the IT staffing companies are seen by TechServe as an attack on the business model followed by IT staffing companies. Companies such as Vision group have since winded their operations or sold out some of their assets.
What are H1 b holders doing in this challenging situation? Sticking to the present job is one fav alternative. Getting back to native land is another (given the enthusiastic job scenario in India). Find an alternative staffing company. Go to a Primary vendor. Find a job with a US company.
Will the Indian IT industry (BPO and Call Centers) revive..
Will the Indian IT Industry (BPO and Call Centers) revive which suffered a huge setback due to the Global recession revive. Not very soon, as recent results show. What will be near future. Not very hopeful too.
Whether we like to accept or not, the Indian IT Industry is heavily dependent on the American Industry. If the American Financial markets revive, then there will quick revival of the IT Industry. However, the Obama adm, with a clear mandate to revive the American Industry, has put in several restrictions on the Financial markets in exchange for bailouts and support. And, separate measures seem to be enforced to ensure work stays within USA.
And, the employment still hovering around 10%, the American economy will take a while to offload work to other countries. Till then Indian IT companies will have to bid for projects in India and elsewhere, or Innovate and bring out their own products.
Will the conservative Mr. Narayan Murthy succeed with his Venture fund
Last week, we got the news that Mr. Narayan Murthy, Chief Mentor of Infosys, has started a Venture fund. Now, venture fund is an altogether different ballgame compared to the running of a company.
Of course, he is a proven tough negotiator and hard nosed businessman, but, running a venture fund requires one to be prepared to loose money in some projects and gain in others. Not that Mr. NRN, is not aware of this…
Let us build a relationship on what you do and what I do
“Let us build a relationship on what you do and what I do” rather than who am I and who You are is the philosophy of webmasters and site owners in the world Internet.
I thank Mr. KSR Murthy (K. S. R. Murthy), retd. DGM SBM, for giving this idea.
And I wholeheartedly agree. Those webmasters or simply put, site owners, who understand and build upon this philosophy can get a steady traffic to their website. Of course, you have to take a little bit of help from “Google Pagerank” to evaluate a site.
A blog about C# and other interesting stuff
Peter Bromberg’s blog is the blog to visit if you wish to read about varied topics right from Politics to C#. And, his views on politics are extremely interesting. Not that others are not, but, his views are more than interesting as they take you right into the core issue and he provides a solution. His post titled “Doomed to repeat history” brings out the point which many in US around the world fail to acknowledge. The bush administration did indeed protected Americans from any attack for seven years.
Started back in 2004, when blogging probably really took off, Peter has posted more than 500 posts. The blog posts on C# and programming, and general computer usage tips are very useful to all. He covers various topics on programming such as registry, IIS, backups, getting a software for free, web configfiles, explorer shortcuts, and f#.
A man can be judged by his actions. I believe he can also be understood by the quotation he likes. Peter has around 43000 quotes, all stored in a databasehis site : myidentityplus.com.
Constantly adding new posts, with a wide topic range always to the point, and willing to link back Peter’s blog truly participates in the philosophy of the internet “An interconnected world”.

The best site for information on ASP.Net
A good thing MS did is to have a dedicated site for ASP.Net. This is the official Microsoft site for ASP.Net. Includes links for downloading AJAX, ASP.Net framework and Visual Developer and has a bing search bar at the top.
